Privacy Policy

Thank you for visiting Corporate Counsel Women of Color, Inc. (“CCWC”). CCWC operates a website at www.ccwomenofcolor.org (the “Website”) and offers mobile applications, such as the CCWC for iPhone app (the “Apps”). At CCWC, we understand that privacy is an important issue for visitors to our Website and users of our Apps, and we are committed to safeguarding your personal information. This Privacy Policy describes our online information practices and how we use and protect the personal information you submit when you visit the Website or use the Apps.

By visiting the Website or downloading any of the Apps, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. Before you use the Website or the Apps or submit any personal information to CCWC, please take a moment to review this Privacy Policy.

CCWC may amend this Privacy Policy from time-to-time. Any changes to this Privacy Policy will be posted in this location (available on the Website and in the Apps), and we encourage you to check back periodically so that you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, when, if ever, it is disclosed and to whom we may disclose it.

Right to Remove Information

We will delete your personal information retained by CCWC, upon your written request, at any time. To direct us to delete your personal information, please either send us an email at info@ccwomenofcolor.org or write to us at Corporate Counsel Women of Color, Radio City Station, P.O. Our Commitment to Children’s Privacy

CCWC cares about children’s privacy. No parts of our Website or Apps are structured to attract anyone under the age of thirteen (13). We do not knowingly collect, use or maintain personal information from users under the age of 13 via the Website or Apps and will delete any information determined to be from a user under the age of 13.

Types of Information We Collect & How We Use It

User Provided Information
The Website and Apps are primarily informational. However, CCWC does collect personal information when individuals submit information directly (such as, for example, through our online membership registration form and CCWC event registration forms). We collect information such as your name, name of your employer, job title, home and work address, telephone numbers, email addresses, practice areas, information identifying the college or university and law school you attended, and credit card information (only if necessary to facilitate the processing of fees in connection with your registration for our paid events).

We retain and use your personal information in order (i) to communicate with you, such as to send you information regarding CCWC services and other news and information you receive when you join CCWC such as our newsletter, career information, and information regarding upcoming and past CCWC events; (ii) to maintain our internal record keeping or for other internal business purposes, including compiling statistical data (e.g., the demographics of our membership, etc.); (iii) to contact you with regard to your use of the Website or Apps or changes to the Website or Apps; and/or (iv) for other purposes disclosed at the time you provide your personal information to us. If you submit content for publication on our Website or through our Apps, we may publish your name and other personal information you have provided to us.

Site Usage Information

We may automatically collect non-personally identifiable information relating to Website and/or App usage. This information may include, for example, the number and frequency of visitors we receive, what pages a visitor selects to view, the length of a visitor’s stay, the type of browser the visitor is using, the domain name of the visitor’s internet service provider, the visitor’s Internet Protocol address (“IP Address”) and operating system utilized, and other system/technical details. This information does not personally identify any user. In some cases, an IP Address can be tracked back to a specific computer, but CCWC does not attempt to do so and does not compile data matching the online activities of unique IP Addresses within the Website or Apps. We collect Website usage data generally only on an aggregate, anonymous basis. We do not embed or use tracking mechanisms (e.g., “cookies” or “web beacons” or “web bugs”) that collect personally identifying information via our Website or Apps. The aggregate information we collect enables us to determine the number of visitors to our Website and Apps, what pages interest them, how long visitors stay, etc – generally, trying to make the Website and Apps more interesting and useful to our members.

Internet Protocol Address

When you access web pages from our Website, our server automatically collects data about your Internet Protocol Address (“IP Address”). An IP Address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer by your Internet Service Provider whenever you access the Internet. Our server cannot automatically record other information that could reasonably be used to identify you personally, but we may link your IP Address with the personal information you have provided to us.

Disclosure of Your Personal Information to Third Parties

We do not sell or rent your personal information. CCWC may share non-personally identifiable information, such as aggregated user statistics, with third parties. In addition, as described below, CCWC may share your personal information: (i) with third parties providing services on our behalf and (ii) when otherwise required by law.

Third Parties Providing Services on Our Behalf

We may employ other companies to perform functions on our behalf. For example, we may share your personal information with PayPal to facilitate the processing of registration and other fees for CCWC events that you have registered for via the Website or Apps (where we have identified the cost to you and you have consented to paying for through our online payment service). These third parties may have access to your personal information in order to provide these services to us or on our behalf.

We may use third parties to help operate our Website and/or Apps and deliver our services (e.g. our internet service provider, the Apple App Store, data base hosting companies, etc.). These service providers may have access to your personal information in order to provide these services to you, to us or on our behalf. You use of our Apps is also governed by the user agreements, which may include privacy terms, pertaining to those Apps; copies of those user agreements are available where you obtain properly licensed apps, such as at the Apple App Store.

Legal Protections and Law Enforcement

We may disclose personal and user information to government authorities, law enforcement or other third parties, when compelled to do so by subpoena or court order or other legal process. We may also disclose personal and user information when we have reason to believe that someone is causing or has caused injury to or interference with our Website or Apps, our legal rights or other property, or to our members/users or other third parties.

Links to Other Sites

Our Website and Apps may contain links to other websites or apps (e.g., the websites of our corporate and law firm sponsors). If you visit a third party website by clicking or otherwise navigating from our Website or Apps, you will be subject to that third party’s privacy policies.

How You Can Access or Correct Personal Information

Consent to Transfer

The Website and Apps are operated in the United States. If you are a resident of the European Union or other location outside the United States, please be advised that any information you provide will be transferred to the United States. By providing personal information to or via the Website or Apps, you understand and consent to the collection, maintenance, processing and transfer of such information in and to the United States. If you do not agree to the transfer of your information to the United States, please do not use the Website or Apps.

Our Commitment to Security

CCWC takes reasonable precautions consistent with industry practice to protect the security of personal information provided to us via our Website and Apps. However, all data transmissions via the internet and by email carry some degree of risk, and CCWC cannot maintain full control over the security practices of its third-party vendors. Accordingly, CCWC cannot guarantee that personal information will be absolutely safe from the unauthorized intrusion by third parties. CCWC will have no liability for disclosure of your information due to errors or unauthorized acts of third parties.

In the unlikely event we believe the security of your personal information in our possession or control may have been compromised, we may seek to notify you as promptly as possible. If we have your email address, we will provide email notification. If you prefer that we notify you by another method, please contact us at our contact address below, with the alternative contact information you wish to be used to reach you. In the unlikely event you believe the security of your personal information in our possession or control may have been compromised, please contact us at our contact address below, and describe in detail the circumstances.

Choice of Law

If any disputes arise between us regarding the Website, the Apps, or your personal information, such disputes shall be resolved according to the laws of the State of New York, United States, and the federal and state courts of New York County shall have exclusive jurisdiction over all such claims. You consent to the jurisdiction of such court in connection with such claims. CCWC and you waive any right to a jury trial in connection with any such claims.
